Protected: Celebrating 20 Years of Fuelfix & Tanks2Go: Powering Progress, People and Purpose

19.09.2025 By Fuelfix Company Updates GO BACK

From a bold idea in Western Australia to a national leader in energy and emissions solutions, Fuelfix & Tanks2Go has spent the last two decades building more than infrastructure, we’ve built a legacy of innovation, resilience, and a people-first culture.

Where It All Began

In 2005, Mark Westbrook and a small team pioneered the use of self-bunded portable fuel tanks, the first of their kind in Australia. These tanks were designed for flexibility and rapid deployment, especially in remote mining and construction sites. With a purpose to provide customers with a flexible, cost-effective, and scalable solution for managing fuel and energy needs, particularly in dynamic or project-based environments – the Fuelfix & Tanks2Go brand was born, offering fuel services within an equipment rental model.

Strategic Evolution: Two Pathways, One Goal

The Fuelfix story is one of growth and transformation. We’ve continued to expand our national footprint across Australia. Opening up operations in the Pilbara in 2007 then commencing our expansion in the Eastern states in 2009 to the launch of our 8th branch in South West WA marking a major milestone in 2025.

Our product offering has evolved and grown too, from Hydrocarbons storage, speciality and safety products to our Go-Greener range, reflecting our commitment to a low-emissions future.

Our exclusive partnership with SCU, to bring the BESS range (Battery Energy Storage System) to Australia is a testament to our forward-thinking approach and collaborative spirit.

Since then, Fuelfix has evolved into a broader energy and emissions solutions provider. Whilst the hydrocarbons hire business still remains a core part of this strategy, it is now complemented by newer offerings like solar, hybrid, and battery energy systems under the “Go-Greener” range.

We haven’t stood still, with each expansion and addition designed to bring us closer to our customers and opening up new opportunities to deliver tailored energy solutions.

Capturing Our Legacy

Our 20th anniversary has given us the opportunity to pause, reflect and acknowledge our journey and thank the team who have supported us along the way.

Our celebratory timeline captures the essence of Fuelfix—from our early days to our latest innovations, highlighting key milestones that have paved the way.

Products That Paved the Way

We started with the classics — cylindrical tanks like the 25,000 and 55,000 litre tanks, and our trusty fuel trailers. But innovation never sleeps at Fuelfix:

  • 2008 brought the small cube tanks and the 110,000 litres tank plus our first solar fuel trailers.
  • By 2013-2014, the mighty 200,000 litre tank was launched, setting new standards.
  • In 2015, we expanded into containerised tanks as a proud distributor of Western Global.
  • Fast forward to 2022, and we introduced the Go-Greener range, putting sustainability front and centre.
  • 2024 saw the debut of our solar-powered fuel tanks, and in 2025, our BESS – a huge leap forward in hybrid energy systems.

Services That Make a Difference

Fuelfix was born to fill a gap — providing high-quality integrated fuel management where others couldn’t. From day one, our mission has been clear: deliver dependable energy solutions to the most remote corners of Australia.

  • In 2007, we acquired Pilbara Petroleum Services, expanding into facility management for leaders in the hydrocarbon and energy sectors.
  • We’ve since added Port Facility Management (EA), Engineered Solutions (2010), and onsite road train facilities (2015) — all designed to keep our clients powered and productive.

Projects That Define Us

We’ve tackled some incredible projects over the years — each one a testament to our engineering expertise and commitment to excellence:

  • 2011 was a big year: Cape Lambert marked our first major engineering feat, followed by the Mermaid Marine fuel barge project.
  • From Christmas Creek to Welshpool Ampol, we’ve designed, installed, and managed facilities that continue to serve today.
  • BP Meekatharra (2015), Adani mine (2019), and the HVO trial (2022) kept us pushing boundaries.
  • More recently, we’ve partnered with NRW (2024), Sojitz (2023), and Futura Resources (2025) — delivering solar-powered and hybrid systems that reflect our commitment to a greener future.

At Fuelfix & Tanks2Go, our culture is more than a set of values—it’s a lived experience that shapes how we work, grow, and connect. With over 100 employees across Australia, our team is united by a shared commitment to safety, sustainability, and service excellence.
